Ta sündis kaos südames
Victoria Olt gallery, Tallinn, Estonia

Why do we try to arrange our feelings and our lives into perfect layers, like a cake? Why do we attempt to measure out exact quantities and baking times with the help of self-help books and instructional videos? Sitting with the discomfort of uncertainty, we may unexpectedly find peace.
Our relationship with control and perfectionism follows a stubborn path. What might happen if we treated confusion like waves to be surfed? What if we found meaning in what is crooked and imperfect?
With this small exhibition, I invited the viewer to join me at the beginning of my journey as I wrestle with these questions. The works reflect on coming to understand the inner chaos of everyday life, while on its surface I desperately try to maintain an illusion of control. They offer glimpses of what it means to sit with chaos, to let go of perfectionism, and to experience the emotions that follow. They also contain glimmers of a further realisation: that without faith in something greater, perfectionism can easily become an idol—one we repeatedly stumble over.
